About VPRA
Standing Up for Virginia Landowners
Protecting the Peaceful Enjoyment of Private Property
The Virginia Property Rights Alliance (VPRA) is a nonprofit dedicated to protecting the rights of rural Virginia landowners and leaseholders. We serve as a united voice for property owners facing unwanted intrusion by deer and bear hunting dogs that disrupts the peaceful use and enjoyment of their private land.
Rooted in the core principles of property rights that our nation’s founders saw as essential to American freedom, we work to secure landowners’ lawful rights to control access, prevent trespass, and enjoy their property without such interference.
The VPRA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable and educational organization that works to foster greater understanding of responsible hunting practices, and the importance of private property rights.
The VPRA Political Action Committee (PAC) supports VPRA’s advocacy efforts, including legislative and executive-branch engagement, lobbying, public outreach, advertising, legal initiatives, and online resources that advance the interests of Virginia property owners.

Our mission centers on upholding these essential rights:
- Control access to their land
- Enjoy exclusive property use
- Decide who may enter or cross
- Expect legal protection
We support responsible hunting. We do not support the forced sacrifice of private property rights to accommodate it.

Our Focus
Virginia landowners face many property-rights challenges.
VPRA has chosen to focus its resources on one issue that directly and consistently affects our members and supporters: The intrusion of deer and bear hunting dogs and hunters onto private property.
We believe a focused approach gives us the best opportunity to achieve meaningful change for Virginia families and communities.
Our Goal
We envision a Virginia where hunting traditions and private property rights coexist through mutual respect and clear legal protections. We believe Virginia can do both.
Responsible Hunting
Ensuring responsible deer and bear hound hunters can continue their traditions safely.
Wildlife Management
Supporting proper management of wildlife populations across the state.
Peaceful Enjoyment
Protecting the right of landowners to enjoy their property without interference from deer and bear hound hunting.
Respected Boundaries
Ensuring property boundaries are respected by all deer and bear hound hunters.
Accountability
Creating meaningful consequences for deer and bear hound trespass and conflicts.
Balanced Laws
Advocating for regulations that protect both traditions and private property.
Our Message
We are not anti-hunting.
We are pro-property rights.
Responsible hunting has a place in Virginia —
trespassing does not.
